New transfer target emerges for Chelsea as they look for Kepa help

Chelsea are considering a bid for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vincent Guaita as they look for a long term replacement for Willy Caballero as backup to Kepa.

Guaita is a great keeper in great form, and would play ahead of Kepa right now, if he was in the squad.

Caballero’s contract runs out in the summer, and according to AS in Spain, Chelsea are keen to bring in 32 year old former Getafe guardian Guaita to replace him.

It would be a wise move. He wouldn’t cost a lot, and could fulfill the role of first team competition as well as cover long term. Assuming he continues like we’ve seen player of Caballero’s type do before, he could play for 5 years or so, seeing action only in the cups or when the number one is hurt.

He could back up Kepa – or if things continue to be really bad – back up whoever we buy to replace Kepa.
