Why Zappacosta transfer rumours make sense

Chelsea have three option at right back at the moment.

One is Cesar Azpilicueta, who has spent two seasons playing at centre back in a back three. He has been so good there that it would seem mad to move him back to right back now.

The other is Victor Moses, who is really a converted winger. We’ve seen him have some superb game as a wing back, but he’s not the most consistent of players, and it’s not his natural position.

The third option is Davide Zappacosta, signed last summer as an alternative to Moses in Conte’s back three. The former Torino man also had some flashes, but most fans would largely agree that he was disappointing.

Plenty of sources, like We Ain’t Got No History, are connecting Inter Milan with a move for Zappacosta. Some have questioned that, but is it any surprise he’s been linked with a transfer away? As we’ve seen, none of the three options are ideal – why not get rid of the worst one?
