Surprise French midfielder emerges as top candidate for Chelsea to replace N’Golo Kante

Chelsea have identified the right man to fill the boots of N’Golo Kante if he leaves the club this summer and it’s his compatriot Tanguy N’Dombele.

According to L’Equipe in France, via Metro, Chelsea have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the Lyon midfielder in the event that Kante leaves the club this summer.

Paris Saint Germain have been linked with some interest for Kante and are said to be ready to register their official interest in the all action midfielder.

Kante arrived from Leicester City to Chelsea in 2015, after winning the Premier League title with the Foxes. In his first season, his contributions were immense as he grabbed another Premier League title with the Blues. But following the uncertainly of Antonio Conte at the club and who will come in to replace him, should he leave, Kante is expected to make a decision on his future after the World Cup.

The report by L’Equipe says Lyon have already rejected a £35m from Spurs for the midfielder with the French club requesting for  up to £53m.
