Senegal star accidentally tips off Chelsea fans about new manager

Further whispers from Russia have all but confirmed Maurizio Sarri as the new Chelsea manager.

There have been months and months of rumours now, but finally it looks as though a conclusion is close.

Kalidou Koulibaly, who plays for the Italian manager’s Napoli side, was asked about his boss at the World Cup.

The Senegal international, fresh from a 2-1 win over Poland, spoke in glowing terms about his coach, quotes carried in the Evening Standard.

“When a person like this comes to a new club, he needs time.”

“They have to give him time because he will suit the football of Chelsea. I think Chelsea fans will enjoy the style of football he plays.”

It’s comforting to hear him say such positive things about Sarri, but it’s also reassuring to hear him speak as though the deal is already done. His use of “will” certainly indicates that he and the other Napoli players believe their boss is on the way out.

Perhaps the towering centre back will come and join Sarri at the Bridge? It won’t be easy to prise a second gem away from Aurelio De Laurentiis however.
