Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s club coach doubles down on Michael Ballack comparisons

Ruben Loftus Cheek will start for England tomorrow, and it’s safe to say we’re pretty excited.

From making his debut for his country in November until now, it’s been a hectic six months for the midfielder, and this will be the crowning glory.

It’s lead to plenty of discussion about the midfielder, including an interview with Roy Hodgson, who managed him at Crystal Palace this season, in the Daily Mail.

“I do think he’s ready, yes, definitely, 100%” the former England coach replied when asked about whether RLC would be able to make the step up to the senior team.

He also agreed with the Michael Ballack comparisons that Glenn Hoddle once made. That once looked like it might be an albatross around young Ruben’s neck, but it sounds like maybe old Glenn knew what he was talking about in this case.

We’re not expecting a peak Ballack performance in the game against Panama tomorrow, a solid showing would be more than enough.
