RLC’s Everton move must stay as a loan, despite the midfielder’s wishes

There’s been a ridiculous amount of talk about Ruben Loftus-Cheek on this site in recent weeks, but that’s no surprise.

The midfielder’s season at Crystal Palace was perhaps the most successful of the loan army (Mason Mount excluded), and his rise from England debut in November to World Cup starter this weekend has been astonishing.

But there are worries too. His interview with the Telegraph this week saw him talking about his future at Stamford Bridge with great uncertainty, and now he’s being linked with a move to Everton in places like the Liverpool Echo.

It’s no surprise really – he’s desperate to play and Everton will give him a great level of team to continue his development at. If we can ensure it’s a loan move then we can be happy, but losing him permanently would be a massive blow.

In the end, RLC has three years left on his contract, so the power is still with us. But that could change, very quickly.
