Recent Chelsea signing has earned his national team place back at last

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is ready to step into the France team as they prepare to take on Peru later today.

That’s the word from the Daily Mirror, who say that after Les Bleus struggles against Australia in their first group game, Didier Deschamps is ready to change things up.

Giroud came off the bench and was very effective in that game, and now it seems he will play from the start to give France more presence up front.

While Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe bring astonishing pace, they just weren’t able to get on the ball enough in that first game. They won the game in the end, but it’s no surprise that they want to mix things up.

Giroud has consistently proven a better foil for Antoine Griezmann for their country, as they proved when they battled to the Euro 2016 final two summers ago.

Let’s hope OG can do us proud and get a few more goals for Chelsea out in Russia.
