Maurizio Sarri to fly to England in the next 24 hours to sign Chelsea deal

Maurizio Sarri is set to fly in to England to finally seal his deal with Chelsea.

The former Napoli coach has been in limbo for weeks now, replaced at his previous club by Carlo Ancelotti but without a new club yet.

Football Italia say that the coach will sign a three year deal at Stamford Bridge once he arrives, finally putting an end to the long and tedious saga of his appointment.

He looks like he will come in to replace Antonio Conte, who is Chelsea manager still but hasn’t been spotted in public for weeks, certainly not on club duty at least. He’s surely hoping that his sacking will be sorted before he’s supposed to return from his summer holidays.

We’re not going to put a date on it, as this has gone more slowly than anyone could have anticipated, but it looks at least as though progress is being made now.
