The Liverpool Echo is a theoretically reputable publication, but even they can’t resist indulging in some transfer nonsense for clicks.
They have a long piece today studying the European goalkeeper situation. With Roma’s Alisson the man in demand, Thibaut Courtois the man who wants out of his club, Gigi Buffon retiring and so on.
While its mostly made up of speculation and things we already know, they do make one interesting suggestion: given Courtois only has a year left on his deal, could he be tempted to Liverpool?
It would have seemed impossible before, but given how well the Reds did in the Champions League this year, and given Chelsea are out of the competition, it’s not impossible.
It would require a real turnaround on his part though – if after talking about Madrid for 4 years he ends up on Merseyside, there will be some seriously unhappy Chelsea fans.
Luckily this all looks like total speculation – for now.
