Eden Hazard shines for Belgium in World Cup opener against Panama

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has been stellar in the Belgium setup this World Cup, at least for the opening game.

Hazard was very instrumental in Belgium’s win over World Cup debutant Panama. He began the game on the left wing, with Romelu Lukaku and Dries Mertens.

Hazard was not on the score sheet but contributed immensely to the three goals scored by the Red Devils. Lukaku grabbed two goals, with his second directly assisted by Hazard. Hazard also began the move that lead to his first goal, after he played in Kevin De Bruyne, before the Manchester City midfielder registered one of the assists of the tournament.

Hazard was named captain of Roberto Martinez, and indeed led from the front. After a stale first half, Belgium came out of their blocks in the second, with Hazard and De Bruyne very well in the thick of their moments.

Belgium will next play Tunisia next before taking on England in the final game of the group stages.
