Eden Hazard criticises Belgium teammate for “hiding” despite two goal showing

Eden Hazard has moved to clarify his comments about Romelu Lukaku after the wide man criticised his teammate for hiding during their game earlier this week.

The Chelsea man had said that the team were struggling in the first half, in part thanks to the feeble efforts from his striker.

As you can see in these quotes carried in the Daily Mirror, he didn’t hold back.

“I told Romelu at half time that we needed him,” Hazard said.

“He was hiding away on his own up front in the first half.”

It did the trick though, and Lukaku scored twice in the second half.

Let’s not forget that Eden Hazard is the captain, as he also pointed out. The Belgian can pretty much tell his teammates whatever he likes if he thinks they’re not playing well, and they can hardly complain about it. There’s no reason he should have to apologise or clarify his comments.

Let’s hope he brings these new found leadership skills back to Chelsea this summer.
