Chelsea turn down huge bid from Premier League rivals for transfer-bound star

Chelsea are ready to let David Luiz leave this summer as reports have had it this summer, but either the bid from Arsenal was too low for their liking, or the fact the bid is from their rivals caused the rejection.

Le 10 Sport reports that the Blues rejected a £17.5 million bid from Arsenal on Thursday leaving Luiz in confusion over what the Blues plan to do with him this summer.

The defender has struggled to play under Antonio Conte last season after his reported feud in November. Guardian reported that Conte was unwilling to let Luiz walk back into the team. He nursed an injury though, midway through the season and was unable to make considerable number of games as Chelsea placed fifth in the league standings, while winning the FA Cup.

Luiz was replaced by Andreas Christensen in the three-man central defense and failed to grab his place again.

He will have a better chance of playing at Arsenal, with Unai Emery looking to build a better defensive unit after he signed for the club to replace Arsene Wenger this summer.

But for now, the Gunners will need to increase their offer for Luiz or look elsewhere for defensive options.
