Chelsea target’s value boosted 66% by strong World Cup display

The World Cup is well underway, and as always the bright performances of the early rounds are leading to very premature transfer speculation. A perfect example of this is the increased interest in Russian attacking midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.

Football.London are one of the sites with a piece on the transfer, noting both Chelsea and Juventus’ interest in the attacker.

They claim – without naming a source – that Golovin’s price has been raised from €15m to €25m, in part thanks to his goal and two assist performance against Saudi Arabia in the World Cup final.

That’s a 66% increase, a pretty good effort for one game.

Chelsea have been linked with the Russian player long term, so probably won’t be happy to massively increase their fee.

Maybe it is in our best interest that he doesn’t continue to play so well. Otherwise, by the time the tournament is over, we could be talking about a €100m player…
