Chelsea incoming manager drawn to Russia star after World Cup heroics

Chelsea’s incoming boss Maurizio Sarri has lined up Russia star Aleksandr Golovin for a move to Stamford Bridge if he becomes manager of the club this summer.

The CSKA Moscow midfielder has been on the radar of the Italian manager for sometime and after his magical display against Saudi Arabia in the World Cup’s opening game, Sarri now wants to work with him at Chelsea.

Golovin scored one goal in Russia’s 5-0 trouncing of the Saudis, while laying on two more goals. His contributions for CSKA in the Russian first division also attracted clubs in Europe before the World Cup, including Arsenal.

Now, the Evening Standard, who report that Chelsea agreed a deal in principle with Maurizio Sarri last month, say the Italian tactician would like to bring on board Golovin before the season starts.

The Express also quote Gazzetta dello Sport as saying Juventus are ready to pay €15million for the 22-year old midfielder.
