Chelsea get tricky opening fixture but generally kind run in first five games of Premier League

Chelsea will take on Huddersfield Town in their first game of the Premier League next season after the release of the 2018/19 fixtures on Thursday.

The Blues will travel to Huddersfield in their first game of the season and will hope to avoid a repeat of the defeat they suffered in their first game last season.

The surprise 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge was a big dent to Chelsea’s season although a recovery in their next game against Tottenham Hotspur served a platform for a good run of form. This time against Arsenal in their second game, Chelsea will hope it will be smooth sailing against the Gunners, a side they have struggled to beat in recent years.

Newcastle who beat the Blues in their last Premier League game of last season will be next opponents, before Chelsea take on newly promoted sides Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With Europa League games to kick off in September, Chelsea will have negotiate the tricky travels and local fiery games to stand a chance of winning silverware later in May 2019.
