Marquee signing on the cards as Chelsea plot £100m signing of proven European striker

Chelsea are set to move in for Bayern Munich top striker Robert Lewandowski next summer after reports on Tuesday emerged that a £100 million fee is being arranged to be exchanged.

The Blues may be set to lose one of their strikers next summer, with Alvaro Morata on his way to Juventus after the Turin club expressed interest in signing him on a two-year loan deal according to Sky Sports. The player himself is thought to be interested in moving away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea would prefer a permanent deal as that would offset some of the amount they would stamp out in signing a marquee player in the summer and now the Telegraph reports Lewandowski is the main target.

The Bayern striker is one of the most feared strikers in Europe but he turns 30 this year and could be dropping in quality in the next couple of years. His age does not make £100m move the best option, but his pedigree in scoring on the big stage would attract any top club.

His signing may also hold the key to keeping Eden Hazard at the club after the player hinted quality signings in the summer could convince him to sign a new deal and remain at the club.
