Juventus general manager explains why Morata deal is unlikely

In Italy, the owners and board members of clubs are surprisingly open when speaking about their team’s future transfers. We’ve seen Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis given away plenty of tips about his team’s activity in the last couple of years, and Juventus CEO Beppe Marotta is no exception.

Calcio Mercato today had a large collection of quotes from the executive about several of the club’s summer plans, from the future of manager Max Allegri to that of Emre Can and Gigi Buffon.

Of more interest to Chelsea fans however will be his comments on Alvaro Morata, which you can read here:

“Everyone shows a great affection for this club, I do not deny that Morata expressed his appreciation for Juventus, but there are very few possibilities because the price from Chelsea is very expensive.

There are no surprises there really, the fact that Chelsea paid so much for the forward has really locked him in, unless they are willing to take a loss on him, which is unlikely.

For now they will have to hope that a rich team comes in with an equal offer, or perhaps arrange a temporary loan move where the former Real Madrid man can earn back some of his value before moving him on.
