Eden Hazard demands transfers from Chelsea as contact stalemate erupts

After a very long period of standoff, cards are on the table at Chelsea.

The questions about Eden Hazard’s contract have been hanging in the air for more than a year now, and he’s coyly avoided them all the way.

Now he’s putting his foot down, telling the club in quotes carried by ESPN that he wants the club to sign big players early in the window and persuade him he wants to sign on for another spell.

“I’m waiting for new players next season. You know. We’ll see. I want good players because I want to win next season the Premier League. Yeah, a lot of things, then we will see.”

The club won’t like being told what to do like that, but at least the Belgian is being honest about feelings which he would have suspected he held in any case. Just like many fans, he wants the club to show what their intentions are.

Are we here to bob around outside the top four and become profitable, or are we going to try and compete with the Manchester clubs?

Hazard is one of the best players in the league, and there’s no reason for him to waste his career if we’re not going to be ambitious.
