€15m Spanish midfielder provides perfect Fabregas replacement for Chelsea

Last week Spanish paper AS claimed that both Barcelona and Real Madrid are chasing Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz.

Interestingly, they also note that the youngster has a €15m release clause.

This should be putting Chelsea on red alert. The Blues are looking for a replacement for Cesc Fabregas, who is clearly reaching the end of his career at the top level, even if he did score against Swansea at the weekend.

Last summer Real Madrid swooped for Dani Ceballos, the last wonderkid off the Betis production line. Many people feared what the effects of that move would be, and while it hasn’t worked out for Ceballos (who’s barely played at Real), his place has been ably taken by Ruiz.

He’s got all of the technical ability that Chelsea should be hunting for to be their new creative hub, as well as more physical presence than the fast fading Fabregas.
