Alvaro Morata has been left out of the Spain squad for the World Cup this summer.
It’s a decision that’s been coming for some time, with Diego Costa, Iago Aspas and Rodrigo Moreno all having good seasons to put them ahead of the Chelsea man in the pecking order.
The wealth of talent Spain have in midfield has also made it tough to justify taking any more than 4 forwards.
This will be a bitter blow for Morata after a season which started so brightly. It will be tough to take, but hopefully he can go away and rest over the summer and prepare to build on this season next time around with a more consistent showing for Chelsea next season.
Either that or this will be the final straw that ends up making him push for a transfer away from London this summer.
