Chelsea have had a few great loan seasons this time round, not least of them Mason Mount’s breakout year at Vitesse.
But Jay Dasilva is right up there in the top few, and this week was given Supporter’s Player of the Year for the Addicks, seriously impressive work for such a young player, especially one on loan.
The full back was given an incredibly flattering comparison by Lee Bowyer, the club’s caretaker manager.
The former Newcastle and Charlton midfielder said that Dasilva is BETTER than Ashley Cole was at that age.
Bowyer is hardly one for overstatement, but even the very fact that the two are being compared is pretty astonishing.

Jay has long been considered one of our brightest prospects, and at this rate we could see him making even greater strides next season. He seems well setlled in South East London, but if they stay in League 1, he might need to move up a level.
