Chelsea fans happy to let John Terry play against them – and might even celebrate one more goal from their hero

John Terry is in the playoff final tomorrow with his new club Aston Villa, facing off against the slick attacking force that is Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham.

According to Simon Johnson’s piece in the Evening Standard, Villa are keen on triggering the one-year extension in the defender’s contract, whatever the result.

If Villa were to win at Wembley, that would mean Terry could face Chelsea in the Premier League next season. That would create a bit of an issue. Terry dropped down to the Championship in part to avoid playing against the club where he made 717 appearances over more than two decades.

The Guardian, amongst others, has reported that the defender would be excused from facing the Blues in the two games in the league next year – and while Terry might insist on it, most Chelsea fans wouldn’t be bothered.

They would sing Terry’s name all game, and would probably cheer like mad even if he scored against their team.
