“I can be the lucky charm for the Champions League race” – Olivier Giroud aims to give Chelsea Arsenal’s top four magic

Only two games remaining to the end of the season, and what two vital games they will be for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Two wins for sides mean, Spurs qualify for Champions League while the Blues settle for Europa League. One slip by Mauricio Pochettino’s side will give Chelsea the advantage in the race to be fourth and Olivier Giroud hopes his experience at Arsenal will give Chelsea the edge over their London rivals this season.

Having fought to qualify for top four several times in his stint at the Emirates stadium, Giroud is hoping to use that experience and ‘lucky charm’ to help Antonio Conte’s side to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Fresh after losing to West Brom last weekend, Tottenham will be hoping to rally back soon enough to erase Chelsea’s hopes, but Chelsea are themselves very confident of making it a successful end to the season, according to Giroud.

“They lost this weekend, so it gives us a bit more energy and hope, so that’s why we want to fight to the end,” said Giroud, who has scored four goals in five games having impressed since his £18m transfer from Arsenal in January.

I hope I can be the lucky charm for the Champions League race in the final sprint. We don’t have it in our hands but I have experience about these kind of end-of-season situations. We need to give everything and wait for the other results. I’m confident because if we play with that kind of mentality we can have nice things.”
