“It will not make up for this season” – Willian issues warning to Chelsea teammates to forget making FA Cup season’s top objective

Chelsea attacker Willian has warned his teammates at the club to forget making the FA Cup a top target for the season, as he believes ‘it will not make up’ for the disastrous campaign they have gone through.

The Blues are currently fifth in the table and some off way of getting back to their best in order to catch Tottenham Hotspur, who have made fourth place theirs in recent weeks.

Antonio Conte’s men also lost out in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup to Arsenal and could not reach the final as expected. Their Champions League campaign was cut short by Barcelona in the round of 16 after a poor display in the second leg at the Camp Nou.

The FA Cup is the only trophy the Premier League champions can win this season to at least put smiles on the faces of their fans, but Willian has warned his colleagues from getting carried away about winning the trophy after so many abysmal performances this season.

“We are Chelsea. We always want to win titles but of course we have to win the FA Cup to finish the season well. If we win this title it will not make up for this season.

I think our target was to stay in the top four and we are fifth. The only title we can win is the FA Cup so we go for that. Next season we will be back stronger to try to win again.”
