“He will be hot property” – Chelsea midfielder prepares for busy market and potential return to the first team

Plenty of Chelsea fans moaned when Roy Hodgson was appointed at Crystal Palace, saying that it would be bad for the loan of Ruben Loftus Cheek. How wrong they have been shown to be.

The midfielder has gone from strength to strength under the guidance of the former England manager, and if it wasn’t for a long stretch out injured after Christmas, would probably be considered one of the breakout talents of the season.

Hodgson has been so impressed by the midfielder that he’s already played down his club’s chances of keeping the 21 year old.

“He will be hot property” the former England boss said when discussing Ruben after another star turn against Brighton at the weekend.

There’s no doubt that there will be clubs all over him this summer. Some will want him on loan next year, some will try and sign him permanently.

But perhaps the best option would be for RLC to finally get his chance in the first team at Stamford Bridge, under a new manager who will show him the patience that Roy has?
