Thibaut Courtois, despite being an excellent goalkeeper, has never managed to make himself particularly popular at Chelsea.
Perhaps it was the way that club hero Petr Cech was booted out to make way for the Belgian, or perhaps it’s his endless flirting with clubs in Madrid.
Either way, he hasn’t managed to win over large parts of our support, and recent revelations in Marca may make him even less popular with fans of his national team too.
Today’s edition carries quotes from former Belgium coach Marc Wilmots, who discussed how during Euro 2016 his teams selections were being leaked to the press moments after he released them.
He accused Courtois’ father, Thierry, of being the mole in the camp, and clearly there are some serious issues there. Wilmots is no longer in charge and so can speak relatively freely, but as of yet there has been no comment from Courtois or his father.
