One key reason Chelsea are reconsidering their options despite being close to sealing marquee summer signing

It’s an open secret that Chelsea will be in the market to search for a new striker and several other options to fill key positions in their squad after a dismal overall display in this season’s campaign.

The Blues have been linked with one mega signing for next summer’s transfer window, and the rumors just won’t go away. Bayern Munich are reluctant to get into any deal that involves seeing the back of Robert Lewandowski, but his new agent has been tasked by the player to find him a new club.

The Polish striker is chasing new challenges after winning everything with Bayern Munich except the Champions League, and is now looking for fresh challenges as he edges closer to the end of his prime days. Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea have been mentioned as three of the four clubs very close in negotiations, according to Sports Witness report that attributes the links to L’Equipe.

But with the player approaching 30 years old, his days at the very top of football are numbered and reports say Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is getting cold feet in going in for the top Bundesliga striker.

Lewandowski will move for nearly €100m which might scare off clubs like Chelsea who aren’t keen on signing older players for huge amounts.
