“He was a kid when he came to Chelsea” – Jurgen Klopp explains why Mohamed Salah failed in his time at Chelsea

There was a time when Romelu Lukaku, Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne were all in Chelsea shirts. They were young players ready to make a name for themselves in the Premier League and beyond, however, decisions made by the club meant they will come to regret this for a long time to come.

Every goal Mo Salah scores this season is a reminder to Chelsea the player they sent away, insisting he was not ready for the Premier League, following his signing in January 2015.

He was allowed to leave for Italy, as was De Bruyne to the German Bundesliga. Both players returned to join Chelsea’s rivals Liverpool and Manchester City respectively, and have been very instrumental in the success of their teams. In fact they are the two most dangerous players this season and continue to impress.

Following the winning of the PFA Player Of The Year award by Mo Salah, his manager Jurgen Klopp believes it was only a matter of time before the Egypt star fulfilled his ambitions as shown this season.

“He was a kid when he came to Chelsea. And Chelsea had a squad that was unbelievable so it was really difficult.

Kevin de Bruyne didn’t play in that squad, that’s a lot. I think we all agree Jose Mourinho is a fantastic manager so sometimes things are like that.”
