Jean-Michel Seri has been the latest player to be heavily linked with Chelsea ahead of a summer move, and he might be the perfect man to upgrade the Blues’ midfield.
The Nice midfielder looked set to move to a bigger club last summer, with Barcelona among the clubs chasing him. But he ended up staying put for another season.
This summer he will surely take that step, and Chelsea must position themselves to sign him.
Chelsea fans have been rather clumsily comparing him to N’Golo Kante, perhaps because he’s short and black and playing in France. But their styles are very different. Seri is much more of a passer, as his impressive stats in Ligue 1 show.
In fact, rather than being similar to Kante, it seems he would make an excellent partner to Chelsea’s midfield dynamo. The two would dovetail nicely, perhaps with a more attacking third man in a midfield three.
