Chelsea’s new record holder not hopeful about Stamford Bridge future

Chelsea loanee Tomas Kalas is now the longest serving player at the club following the departure of Matej Delac. Sadly that doesn’t mean he will be getting a first team shot anytime, as you can infer from his tone when speaking about Andreas Christensen’s progress from loanee to first team.

“Yeah, he’s one of two who have made it so it’s still not a big number but at least it gives us players on loan hope that we can make it through at Chelsea,” Kalas told GetWestLondon.

It’s hard to read his tone in a written interview, but it seems he may be being a little sardonic.

Kalas knows that despite his loyal service to Chelsea he’s unlikely to ever get a chance back in the first team.

Still, by encouraging him to sign a new deal last summer we’ve secured him for a few more years, and we can watch his price rise as he continues to perform for surging Fulham in the Championship.
