Chelsea are making plans to rewrite their summer transfer history lately with L’Equipe reporting the Blues have began initial talks with Jean-Michel Seri for a possible summer move.
The Blues are not having a particularly great season, and are looking to improve their squad for next season. Seri was linked heavily with Barcelona in the previous transfer window, but the move did not materialize and he remained with his current club Nice.
The report by L’Equipe, also reported by Sport Witness, says Seri has a ‘private agreement’ with Nice to let him leave to a club of his choice for a fee of €40m and Barcelona could have activated the secret clause last summer, but moved for Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund instead.
The Premier League champions have learned about the agreement between the player and the Ligue 1 side and are ready to snap him up next summer to provide good squad depth for any manager they hire for next season and beyond.
