Charly Musonda the latest Chelsea talent to be abandoned by fickle fans

It’s a real shame how quickly football talented is discarded.

Charly Musonda has been one of the most celebrated products of Chelsea’s youth setup, and has had a horde of fans on twitter with names like @MovesLikeMusonda and @MusondaBallerSkills, but those handles are quickly being changed.

The Belgian had a rocky loan to Real Betis last season, where he at least showed some promise in a top European league, even if he didn’t play all that much.

Then in the Autumn he scored his first goal for Chelsea against Nottingham Forest, and looked set to edge his way into the squad as a rotation option.

In the end, he went to Celtic on loan, and any thought it would be the making of him. Regular starts in a rough and tumble league might be just what he needed.

Unfortunately, Musonda has barely played, and if he can’t get a game up there, what chance does he have at Stamford Bridge? Not much, in reality, and the fact that the accounts that once called for him to be included in every squad now prefer Callum Hudson-Odoi as flavour of the month tells you everything you need to know.
