“He can be very reserved and quiet at times” – Zappacosta reveals Bakayoko’s potential issues

Chelsea’s “Boys Next Door” feature has players discuss their neighbours in the dressing room and what their relationship with them is. It’s usually pretty bland, but you can sometimes find an interesting nugget in there.

Today’s subject is Davide Zappacosta, who sits between Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata. He doesn’t reveal much, apart from one interesting line about Bakayoko.

When asked for something we might not know about the Frenchman, Zappacosta said “he can be very reserved and quiet at times”.

It’s no surprise. especially given his struggles on the pitch, that Bakayoko isn’t super exuberant right now. But his apparent shyness could also be a contributing factor, and could be a bright light for the future.

If he continues to settle in, and maybe comes out of his shell more in the dressing room, that might be constructive for his performances on the field.

It will be a virtuous circle too, as more confidence will improve his performances, and better performances will improve his confidence.
