Antonio Rudiger back in Chelsea team signals peace with Antonio Conte amid feud claims

Chelsea welcomed back Antonio Rudiger for the game against Burnley on Thursday night despite reports of a rift between he and Antonio Conte.

The Germany international had been missing from the Blues’ clash with Southampton last Saturday and was even not on the bench as his colleagues masterminded a stunning 3-2 comeback from two goals down, to pick maximum points off that game.

He returned to the starting 11 in Chelsea’s game against the Clarets at the Turf Moor, playing on the left of a three-man defense, along with Gary Cahill in the middle and Cesar Azpilicueta on the right.

His return will calm the intense talk that he and Conte had argued on tactics following his public criticism of the shape Chelsea took after leading West Ham 1-0 at Stamford Bridge a couple of weeks ago. Conte quickly dismissed the reports and said the central defender had simply been rested and would return to the setup soon, which was proven in his comeback and lasting the entire game in Chelsea’s latest victory.
