Antonio Conte loses out on top national team job leading Chelsea into more confusion about his future

Antonio Conte appears to have lost out on one of his main priority jobs should he leave Chelsea next summer, making his situation at the club even more difficult.

The Italian tactician has been snubbed by the Italian Football Federation in their search for a new manager, as they push closer to tying former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti down to a contract as per the Independent.

Widespread reports in Italy say Ancelotti is set to be Italy’s new head coach after the Italian FA decided he is the right man to refresh the squad and lead them back to glory after missing out on the 2018 World Cup.

This means Conte has to look elsewhere as his options for top jobs keep shrinking. As it stands, Paris Saint Germain looks a more likely destination for him, with Unai Emery failing to convince his top officials about taking the expensively assembled squad to new heights.

Conte has struggled with life at Chelsea this season following his title win last season is a very likely to leave London in the coming summer.
