Willian stands to benefit from Conte’s tactical tweak

The focus ahead of the Barcelona game has been upon Antonio Conte’s tactics. His strikerless formation worked well against the Spanish side at Stamford Bridge, but now Chelsea need to score away from home, he is set to abandon it to bring a forward in.

It is commonly discussed how much this will help Eden Hazard to find his best form, but it’s been less discussed how it will help Willian, and how vital the Brazilian will be in the return leg.

He scored again yesterday against Palace, continuing his impressive run this season, and if the Blues are to have any chance against Barcelona his ranged shooting is likely to be vital, as it was in the first leg.

Especially if the home team’s defence has their focus on the Belgian on one side, Willian could once again have the chance to change the tie coming in from his flank. Having a striker will not only help Hazard, it will help the former Shakhtar man too.
