“I am pleased for his performance” – Antonio Conte praises goalscorer after Leicester City win in FA Cup

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has hailed the performance of star striker Alvaro Morata after his goal scoring heroics against Leicester City last Sunday.

The Blues endured a tough 120 minutes against the Foxes at the King Power stadium in a grueling quarter final of the FA Cup. Alvaro Morata had put his side in front with a well taken goal in the first half.

He was put through on goal by Willian who had managed a mesmerizing run past two Leicester players. Morata’s composure and finish for the goal was reminiscent of a player full of confidence, but he’s looked anything but.

He had not scored in the last 13 games in all competitions this season, with his last goal dating back to December 26th 2017, against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Pedro added a second after Jamie Vardy had cancelled out Morata’s goal to force extra time. But Conte chose Morata for praise after his return to goal scoring.

“For Alvaro, it was important to score but I am pleased for his performance. He showed great character and to be strong. I think his goal will be very important for the future.”
