Olivier Giroud has no regrets joining Chelsea despite dropping out of European competition

Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud has revealed that having played against Spanish giants Barcelona at the Camp Nou is further proof he made the right decision in leaving Arsenal to Stamford Bridge last winter transfer window.

Giroud who joined the Blues on the deadline day of the January transfer window, has been aiming to secure regular playing time under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

The Frenchman has been often named on the bench since his arrival while scoring once, and contributing two assists in his performance against Crystal Palace. With Alvaro Morata out of form in recent times, Giroud was given the chance to start in the second leg round of 16 clash against the Catalan giants last Wednesday.

Chelsea crashed out of the competition while Arsenal progressed into the last eight of the Europa League, beating AC Milan in the round of 16. Giroud believes he made the right decision despite the possibility of missing out on a European trophy this season.

“Yes, definitely. I am settling in quite well. I am very pleased with my understanding with the boys. Obviously, not everything is perfect but I try to be that target man that the boss asks me to be

Trust me, I keep working hard and I am doing my best to reach my targets. So you can count on me to do my best, to be at my best level as soon as I can.”
