“I don’t give Chelsea much hope at all” – Liverpool man dismisses Barcelona dream

Liverpool favourite Charlie Nicholas has dismissed Chelsea’s chances of progressing in the Champions League ahead of the second leg of their second round tie against Barcelona.

Writing on Sky Sports, the Scotsman has predicted a 3-0 win to the hosts, and his gloomy outlook even posits that Antonio Conte will likely go with a false 9 once again, despite the success he notes Olivier Giroud had at the weekend against Crystal Palace.

Chelsea must score in the Nou Camp, after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. But if they can get themselves on the scoresheet early, they actually put themselves in a great position. From there Barcelona must attack, and Chelsea can counter knowing that once they have a second, any score draw will do.

Barcelona are the better team, and are clear favourites, but Nicholas is being overly cautious in this case. A team as good as Chelsea always has a chance, and 3-0 is a very unlikely result.
