Chelsea ready to join race with Barcelona and PSG for Tottenham Hotspur star next summer

Chelsea have joined the race to land Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, and are willing to sign the center-back who has been sidelined by his boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Antonio Conte’s future at Stamford Bridge is still in doubt but the club wants to reinforce the squad after a poor performance this season. Although the West London outfit have progressed to the semi-final stage of the FA Cup and will be playing against Southampton next month, they are still struggling to qualify for next season’s Champions League as they cling unto fifth place, adrift of Tottenham Hotspur with just eight games remaining.

Several defenders in the team like David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Belgium duo winger Eden Hazard and stopper Thibaut Courtois may be out of Stamford Bridge which might spark a lot of new signings in the summer.

The Blues are monitoring other players whose contracts will expire soon including Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey according to the Mirror.

Alderweireld has two years remaining on his contract but Spurs have refused to accept his new request, a deal worth £150,000 a-week, although the 29-year-old has been one of the best defenders for the club.
