Why Chelsea must not sell Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer

Tiemoue Bakayoko has had, to put it mildly, a mare at Chelsea.

The Frenchman arrived last summer after a successful Champions League campaign with Monaco, and looked exactly what  the Blues needed to upgrade their midfield. Pace, power and quality on the ball.

As it turns out, it’s been a disaster. Rather than the steady, calming, presence of Nemanja Matic at the base of their midfield, the Blues have been lumbered with a nervous skittish Bakayoko who doesn’t want the ball.

But they still shouldn’t sell him this summer. The reasoning is so simple. He can’t get worse. If we sell him now, his value is at it’s lowest, and we’re bound to see him succeed somewhere else. Even if he isn’t up to the standards we need, by giving him a chance to improve and put in some good performances we ensure that we will be able to recoup the majority of the fee we paid for him.

If we cut out losses now and write him off as a failure, we will only be able to watch as he potentially improves.
