It’s finally been confirmed that one of the top talents in South America will be coming to Europe – but sadly not to Chelsea.
The Gremio midfielder Arthur has long been linked with moves to Chelsea as he has developed into one of the brightest prospects on the continent, but today it was confirmed by Barcelona that he will be joining the club in the summer.
Chelsea weren’t the only side chasing Arthur, but missing out on him may hurt them more than his other suitors. Chelsea are absolutely desperate for a player in his position – a midfielder with attacking talents but with the legs and engine to play in a two with Kante.
Cesc Fabregas has repeatedly shown he can’t do both attacking and defending, so someone who can is top of the list of priorities.
Tiemoue Bakayoko has yet to show anything like the form that got him a move, and Ruben Loftus Cheek still probably isn’t ready yet.
