Chelsea to make smart summer move for Juventus’ versatile wide man

Chelsea are ready to make a move for Juventus left wing back Kwadwo Asamoah when his contract runs down this season at the Italian club per the Sun.

The versatile player is capable of playing at left wing back position and also in central midfield. He has grown into a very important player for Juventus after he signed for the club in 2012 when Antonio Conte was in charge of the club.

The Ghana international has attracted interest from Napoli and Inter Milan who were keen to sign him next summer, but he wants to play outside Italy for the first time in Europe. Previously a starter at Juventus on the left, Asamoah became a fringe player for Massimiliano Allegri’s side after they signed Alex Sandro, and with injuries also playing a part in his absence from Juve’s team, Asamoah was mostly relegated to the bench.

But he has become an important player for Juve again this season, when Sandro’s form dropped and also when he is brought on in second half of games to help dictate play in advanced positions on the pitch.

It’s unclear if Conte will remain at Chelsea beyond this season, but his admiration for the player is the reason the Blues are linked with him, and should Asamoah arrive, he may compete with Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri at left back or provide cover for Cesc Fabregas in midfield with his impressive passing ability.
