Chelsea and Arsenal compete for signature of former Liverpool man

Chelsea and Arsenal among the clubs showing an interest in former Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulasci, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Blues may be forced to sell Thibaut Courtois this summer as he has only one year left on his contract and plenty of interest from Madrid, while Arsenal have seen Petr Cech declining steadily and are now in need of a new number one.

Gulasci is at RB Leipzig, where he has established himself as one of the best keepers in the Bundesliga. He spent a chunk of his younger days at Liverpool, stuck behind Pepe Reina, so he speaks English well and knows the game in this country.

While Leipzig are backed by Red Bull and are thus never under financial pressure to sell, they are known to accept bids which meet their strict asking prices.

Whether the Blues will stump up the cash this summer remains to be seen, and surely all depends on whether Courtois puts pen to paper on a new contract.
