“It’s certain that’s not enough” – Olivier Giroud admits he’s concerned with his Chelsea statistics

Olivier Giroud has had an interesting interview in L’Equipe where he has discussed his start at Chelsea.

Most Blues fans would say that he’s had a good start at the club since arriving in January. He was brought into the side pretty much straight away with Alvaro Morata struggling, and by the Barcelona second leg he was Antonio Conte’s first choice.

That would count as a success, even if his performance in that game was disappointing.

But Giroud is a harsh self-critic, and he thinks he should have done better. While he says he’s happy with how he’s settled in off the pitch and with his relationship with his teammates on it, his return of one goal and three assists in five games isn’t up to his high standards.

“It’s certain that’s not enough. But in any case, in terms of how I’m playing, it’s very encouraging. It’ll come with time,” the Frenchman said.

To be honest 3 assists and a goal seems like a decent return to us for five games. He should have at least two goals against Crystal Palace but just couldn’t force the ball home.

Next season will be the real test, but so far we think Oli is being harsh on himself.
