BREAKING: No Chelsea players selected in latest England squad

Gareth Southgate has just announced his England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Italy and Holland, and no Chelsea players were selected.

Gary Cahill was previously the only Blue involved in the England setup, but losing his place in Antonio Conte’s first XI has clearly hurt his chances of going to the World Cup.

It has been some time since no Chelsea players featured in the squad of their own nation, and this will probably be seen as a big issue in the club’s hierarchy given home-grown rules are only going to get stricter.

Nat Chalobah, who left Chelsea in the summer, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is on loan at Crystal Palace, were both possibilities for this summer’s tournament, but injury has scuppered both of their chances of going to Russia it seems.

There’s still a few games to go for these guys to earn their place in Southgate’s squad, but the outlook is not good for English Chelsea fans who are looking for players to support for their country this summer.
