“Alvaro wasn’t happy”- Chelsea player reveals teammate’s major recent issue

Marcos Alonso is the talk of the town in Spain. For a long time the people of the Iberian nation have wanted to see the Chelsea man get a chance in the national team, and now he’s there he’s been immediately questions about a player who’s being left out.

Six months ago Alvaro Morata was the first choice striker for Spain and Diego Costa was in the middle of a 6 month period without football.

How quickly things have changed. Costa is now the starter and Morata not in the squad.

When asked about how his compatriot reacted to the news, Alonso revealed in quoted carried by football.london:

“Alvaro wasn’t happy… he has gone through a difficult few months with a back injury.”

While the back injury was an issue, it was the spell of games without a goal that was equally troubling and lead to the forward losing his starting spot in Antonio Conte’s XI.

He returned and scored against Leicester at the weekend, and both Spain and Chelsea fans are hoping he can bang in a few more before the World Cup this summer.
