“I work, if this is enough it is OK, otherwise the club has to take another decision” – Antonio Conte admits Chelsea may sack him after Watford defeat

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted he could be sacked by the club after a horror defeat at Watford on Monday.

The Blues were thrashed 4-1 at the Vicarage Road in a game that saw Tiemoue Bakayoko sent off in the first half, ruining the Italian manager’s plans for the game. Conte withdrew Willian, making a return from a hamstring injury, and replaced him with Cesc Fabregas.

But the momentum had settled with the Hornets who scored through a penalty kick after Thibaut Courtois brought down Gerard Deulofeu. Three more goals were added after Eden Hazard brought Chelsea level with a brilliant effort from outside the box.

The result leaves Chelsea hovering just above Europa League spot on the league standings after two successive defeats, with Bournemouth also taking a scalp off Chelsea in midweek at Stamford Bridge.

Conte says he feels no pressure but admits the club could sack him following a string of poor results.

“My position? It is the same. I stay here, try to work and put all myself in the work. The pressure? Which pressure? What is the pressure? I work – if this is enough it is, OK. Otherwise the club has to take another decision.”
