“One of the best players” – Antonio Conte defends Andreas Christensen’s mistake that Messi a first goal against Chelsea

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte covers up for Andreas Christensen’s mistake on the pitch which resulted in a final 1-1 result in last-16 tie in the Champions League against Barcelona.

The Premier League Champions were looking forward for their much awaited victory against teh Spanish giants, after they grabbed the lead through Willian, but that dream couldn’t materialize as Barcelona star Lionel Messi took advantage of Christensen‘s faulty pass and netted a vital away goal for his side.

When Conte was questioned about Christensen’s error for the away goal, the Italian defended his player and congratulated him on good performance at Stamford Bridge, although condemning the mistake.

“I think Christensen’s performance was a very good performance, an incredible performance. We are talking about a player who is only 21 years old here.

It’s great that he is able to play this game with maturity and personality. I am very happy. He was one of the best players tonight.

It is very difficult to pick one player or another player but I think Christensen played a top game. I am very pleased with his performance.”
