Chelsea’s double contract problems could be at an end

It’s the first in a while, but there’s some good news on the contract renewal front for Chelsea.

Thibaut Courtois has spoken openly about the progress of his new deal, and says it’s not as issue that no deal has yet been reached.

In quotes carried in the Telegraph, the goalkeeper has said that the club had agreed to speak with him in February about a new deal as they were busy with signings in January.

Despite saying his “heart is in Madrid” – where his two children live with their mother – Courtois made positive noises about the progress of his deal, saying it will be signed if things are “normal”.

Even better for Blues fans, he said that he was “reassured” by the club’s desire to tie Eden Hazard down to a new deal, a small indication that things may be moving in the right direction on that deal too.

Fingers crossed.
